1884 Wyoming Township, Kent County, Michigan State Census shows Garret is 47, Joaninites is 48, Shia is seven and Antonn is four. The parents were born in the Netherlands and the children in Michigan. Garrett works in the plaster mills. The family has been in Michigan 11 years.

On 6 May 1871 when Gerrett Willems was 35, he first married Annigje Dolfing, daughter of Jan Dolfing & Jantje Alberts, in Emmen, Drenthe.5 Born on 5 Feb 1843 in Westerbork, Drenthe.5

Gerrett Willems second married Johanna Stokking, daughter of Anthony Stokking. Born on 22 Nov 1839 in Netherlands. Johanna died in Blendon, Ottawa Co., MI, on 2 Feb 1918; she was 78. Buried in Georgetown Township Cemetery.

On 1 Feb 1871 when Anna was 30, she married Jan ten Cate, son of Arend ten Cate (2 Nov 1794-8 Feb 1853) & Henriette Margaretha Gross (16 Dec 1795-21 Jul 1864), in Emmen, Drenthe.5 Born on 29 Oct 1828 in Hoogeveen, Drenthe.5 Jan died in Vastenow (Emmen), Drenthe, on 26 May 1887; he was 58.5

1164. Lammechje Steen. Born on 18 Dec 1845 in Smilde, Drenthe.5 Lammechje died in Grand Rapids, Kent County, MI, on 10 Mar 1926; she was 80. Buried in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

Lammechje, later known as Laura.

Record number 360 book 12 page 218 Kent County Death Records states that Laantje Tweist died in Grand Rapids of chronic myocarditis on 10 March 1926. She was 80 y 2m 20 d old, a widow, who was born in the Netherlands. Her parents were F. William Steen and Dena Heersma, who were both born in the Netherlands.

An obituary for Laura Twiest appeared Thursday 11 Mar 1926 in the Grand Rapids Press.

On 21 Jun 1866 when Lammechje was 20, she married Jan Twiest (1483) , son of Harmannus Twiest (1304) (2 Aug 1795-28 Jan 1847) & Geertruda Wijnholds (1131) (8 Oct 1812-9 Jun 1878), in Emmen, Drenthe.5 Born on 5 Apr 1842 in Roswinkel (Emmen), Drenthe.5 Jan died in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI, on 15 Nov 1920; he was 78. Buried in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

John Twist was 38 years old, Lamencha 38, Hermanus 17, Dena 15, William 12, Gertrude nine, Frederick six, and Garrett three. All were born in the Netherlands. John and William work in the plaster mill. The family has only been in Michigan one month (no date is given at the top of the page for when this census was actually taken). All but Fred and Garett can read and write.

Claus married Alure E. [Steen]. Born in Jun 1864 in Illinois.
