He is survived by four sons, John of Edgewood, RI, Peter of Burbank, CA, and Harry and Fred Twiest of Grand Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Van Neuren; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Lemmick, all of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will beheld Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hollebeek Funeral Home, 1100 W. Leonard St. Interment Washington Park Memorial Gardens. HAMELINK - Dena Hamelink, 87, of 808 Caulfield Ave., SW, died Sunday night at Blodgett Memorial Hospital after a short illsness.
    Mrs. Hamelink was the widow of John Hamelink who died in 1925. She was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States at the age of 16 with her parents, settling in Grand Rapids.
    She was married in 1889. Mrs. Hamelink was a member of the Ladies’ Holland Mutual Aid society and was a past president. She was a member of the former Holland Unitarian church here.
    Surviving are two sons, John and William; three daughters, Mrs. Cornelius DeSmit, Mrs. Josephine Langland and Mrs. Ellis R. Dixon, all of Grand Rapids; eight grand children; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Herman Twiest of Grandville, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Praasterink and Mrs. Jennie Lemmink of Grand Rapids.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Joldersma chapel with Rev. James DeKraker, pastor of the Congregational church of Grandville, officiating. Burial will be in Washington Park Memorial Gardens.

    Frederick Twiest, Sr., 78, grocer at Walker Station 18 years before his retirement eight years ago, died Thursday morning at St. Mary’s hospital. He lived at 4027 Richmond Road, NW.
    Mr. Twiest was born in the Netherlands and came here when he was 5. He was a life member of Grand River Lodge, F&AM, and a member of the Grandville-Jenison Congregational church.
    Surviving are his wife, Theresa; two sons, Frederick, Jr., and Albert J.; a daughter, Miss Florence L. Twiest; a brother, Herman; three sisters, Mrs. Dena Hamelink, Mrs. Gertrude Praasterink and Mrs. Jennie Lemmink, and three grandchildren, all of Grand Rapids.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Posthumus-Hilldreth chapel, Grandville, with Dr. J.J. DeKraker officiating. Burial will be in Washington Park Memorial Garden.

state Gerrit died 11 December 1945 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Death was caused by a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurism (he spent less than one day in the hospital). He was born 22 January 1881 in the Netherlands and was a tavern operator and grocery store keeper. He resided at 4 Burr Oak St. NE, Grand Rapids. His parents were John Twiest and Lammechje Steen and his wife, Grace, was the informant. He died at 64 years, ten months and 19 days of age. He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery on 14 December 1945, from the Van Strien - Alman Funeral Home. #34505

Gerrit’s obituary appeared in the Grand Rapids Herald, Tue, 13 Dec 1945.
