1102. Ralph Dayton. Born ca 1618 in Kent, England. Ralph was baptized in Ashford, Kent, on 28 Jun 1618.51 Ralph died on 10 Feb 1706 in Ashford, Kent.30
Ralph was an innholder at Ashford.52
In 1639 Ralph married Susan Burr.52

1103. Alice Dayton. Born ca 1620 in Kent, England. Alice was baptized in Ashford, Kent, on 21 May 1620.51 Alice died on 6 Feb 1708/9 in Easthampton, LI.52 Buried in Amagansett Cemetery.51
On 20 Jun 1643 Alice married Thomas Baker, son of Thomas Baker (1578-) & Frances Downe, in Milford, CT .51 Born ca 1618 in Ashford, Kent. Thomas was baptized in Hothfield, Kent, on 11 Oct 1618.51 Thomas died on 30 Apr 1700 in Easthampton, LI.52
Thomas Baker was of Milford, CT, 10 May 1650 when he bought East Hampton, LI, land holdings of Capt. Daniel How. Four months later he was dismissed from the Milford to East Hampton. There he was Townsman in 1651, 1653, 1654, 1655, and 1657; second military officer 1654; Magistrate 1661, 1663; Deputy Feb 1664/5; Patentee and Constable 1667; Trustee 1686; and Commissioner 1688. “Thomas was a freeplanter in Milford with 3 acres and 2 rods for his home lot which is near West main and West River STreet (1975).”

1104. Samuel Dayton. Born ca 1623 in Kent, England. Samuel was baptized in Ashford, Kent, on 7 Feb 1623/4.51 Samuel died on 5 Jul 1690 in Brookhaven, LI.52 Occupation: Cordwainer.
In 1645 Samuel was in New Haven with his father. He lived briefly in Flushing, LI, before he settled in Southampton, where, on 6 May 1648, the town “ordered that Samuel Dayton shall be accepted as an Inhabitant, & hath A fifty pound lot granted unto him provided the said Samuel (being a stranger to us) weare of good approbation in ye place wehre he last lived at Flushing, and do demeane himself well heare for ye time of approbation namely six months next to come.”52
Several accounts of the early Daytons mention a fourth wife “Wilhemina,” by tradition an Indian, but Jacobus52 could not find evidence for her.
ca 1648 Samuel first married Madlen [Dayton].52
On 12 Sep 1653, Samuel’s wife, not named, was sued for slander by Thomas Vail for £40, and four days later a jury gave the plaintiff £3 damage with cost of Court.52

Ellen married Mr Brinley, or perhaps John Linsley, and left children referred to in the will of Ellen’s father Ralph Dayton.
1106. Robert Dayton. Born ca 1628 in Kent, England. Robert was baptized in Ashford, Kent, on 3 Jan 1628/9.51 Robert died on 16 Apr 1712 in Easthampton, LI.52
Robert was made freeman Jan 1657/8; Townsman 1662, 1664; Selectman 1674; Overseer 1683; and Trustee 1686. For more information about his descendants in East Hampton, check out Herbert F. Robert married Elizabeth Woodruff, daughter of John Woodruff & Anne Gosmer.
