On 5 Jul 1634 Elizabeth married Ralph Hemingway in Roxbury, MA.18 Born ca 1609. Ralph died in Jun 1678 in Roxbury, MA.18

Ralph was of Roxbury by 1633, freeman 3 Sep 1634, He d. 1677, or 8. His will of 4 May 1677, probated 11 July of next year, mentioned his great age, names wife Elizabeth and three sons.27

3931. Joshua Hewes. Born ca 1612.18 Joshua died on 25 Jan 1675/6 in Boston, MA.18

Joshua, Roxbury, came, says the church record a single man, about Sep 1633, probably in the Griffin, with Cotton and Hooker, freeman 4 Mar following. He was rep. 1641, ar. co. 1643, a merch. of large transact. a lieut. sent with two others, Mar. 1648, to inq. a. complaints against Gorton's comp. at Warwick, over wh. Mass. always wish. to usurp jurisdict. engaged in the Narraganset sett. of Wickford, whither he rem. 1662, and in May 1663, was by Conn. jurisdict. with others appoint. He returned to Boston that year.27

On 8 Oct 1634 Joshua first married Mary Goldstone, daughter of Henry Goldstone (ca 1591-Jul 1638) & Ann Swaddock (ca 1589-26 Apr 1670), in Roxbury, MA.18 Born ca 1620 in Wickham Skeith, Suffolk. Mary was baptized in Wickham Skeith, Suffolk, on 26 Feb 1620.18 Mary died on 23 Aug 1655 in Boston, MA.27

    i. Joshua, b. 19 Oct 1639, d. 19 Dec 1639;
    ii. Mary, b. 29 Dec 1641, m. William Lamb; and
    iii. Joshua, b. 25 May 1644, bp. 5 Jun 1644, m. 1st Hannah Norden, m. 2nd Elizabeth.18

On 11 Feb 1656[/7] Joshua second married Alice [Crabtree] in Boston, MA.18

Alice, widow of John Crabtree. Child of Joshua and Alice (———) (Crabtree) Hewes:
    i. Hannah, b. 28 Oct 1663 at Boston.27

3932. Anne Hewes.

Anne may have married Lewis Jones.

3933. Phebe Hewes. Phebe died on 28 Feb 1678/9 in Roxbury, MA.

On 30 Nov 1639 Phebe married Richard Gorde in Roxbury, MA. Born ca 1618 in perhaps London, England. Richard died on 29 Sep 1683 in Roxbury, MA.

Richard was in Roxbury by 1635.16
