6475. Elizabeth Crispe. Born on 28 Jan 1636/7 in Watertown, MA.49 Elizabeth died in Watertown, MA, on 28 May 1681; she was 44.49

On 29 Sep 1657 when Elizabeth was 20, she married George Lawrence in Watertown, MA.35 Born in 1637.35 George died on 21 Mar 1708/9 in Watertown, MA.35

On 3 Nov 1691 George was excused by the Court from serving as Constable, ‘in that he could not read a word.’35

His will, dated 1707, mentions his wife Elizabeth, two youngest children Joseph and Rachel, sons George, Benjamin, and Daniel, daughter Mercy Baker living at Yarmouth, daughter Grace Edes at Charlestown, daughter Elizabeth Whitney at Stow, daughter Hannah Sawetl at Groton, daughter Judith Sterns of Cambridge Farms, daughter Mary Flagg, daughter Sarah Rider, daughter Marths Dix, and granddaughter mary Earl. Sons Daniel and George were appointed administrators at the request of the widow. Inventory dated 5 Apr 1709.35

George was not the son of John and Elizabeth Lawrence of Groton. Although all the other sons of John were named in his will, he named no son George. He may, however, been related to John Lawrence of Groton.

6477. Jonathan Crispe. Born on 29 Jan 1639/40 in Watertown, MA.49 Jonathan died bef 25 Oct 1680.49

Jonathan was in Groton in 1664 when he owned a house-lot of 28 acres with and addition thereto, 3 acres in the general field, 5 acres in the Flaggy meadow, 3 acres at Massabogue brook, and 2 acres in the Angle meadow, all compared and approved by the selectmen 27 Dec 1664. In 1675 he was of Dunstable. In King Philip’s war Groton was attacked. Jonathan was paid £2:10:6 for his service on 24 Apr 1676.49

6479. Zachary Crispe. Born ca 1644.18

There is no direct evidence that Zachary is Benjamin’s son, but the indirect evidence is sufficient. He served in the defense of Groton in 1676. He fathered a child, Mary Crispe, daughter of Mary Stanwood, and was bound to pay for her support. He was later charged with the murder of Edwar Leuis, but was acquitted by a jury.49

He did not marry Mary Stanwood, daughter of Philip Stanwood (ca 1630-7 Aug 1672) & Jane Whitmarsh (ca 1623-18 Aug 1706). Born ca 1654 in Gloucester, MA. Mary died on 3 Mar 1674 in Gloucester, MA.

On 11 Apr 1667 Mercy married Robert Parish, son of Thomas Parish (ca 1613-16 Apr 1668) & Mary Danforth (ca May 1621-8 Aug 1674), in Chelmsford, MA.49 Born ca 1635 in England. Robert died on 21 Aug 1709 in Chelsea, MA.

6482. Deliverance Crispe. Born ca 1650 in Watertown, MA.18 Deliverance died on 27 Jul 1694 in Groton, MA.

Deliverance, aged 20, testified with Benjamin Crispe in the suit of Cooper vs. Parish in 1670, and it is probable that she was his daughter, unless she was the wife of his son Jonathan, otherwise unknown.49

ca 1680 Deliverance married William Longley, son of William Longley (ca Jun 1613/4-18 Apr 1697/8) & Joanna Goffe (-18 Apr 1698). Born ca 1637/8 in Lynn, MA. William died on 27 Jul 1694 in Groton, MA.

William, his wife, and five of his children were massacred by Indians. Three children taken into captivity.
