Thomas “was the minister of the first Church of Taunton a few years; afterward a Judge of the Court of Plymouth County, and a Colonel of the militia.”6

On 9 Sep 1731 when Thomas was 25, he first married Mary Leonard, daughter of Judge George Leonard.279 Born on 14 Jan 1713/4. Mary died in Scituate, MA, on 27 Jun 1741; she was 27.279,116 Mary died of measles.

    i. John, b. 14 Jul 1733 at Taunton, d. 24 May 1767;
    ii. Thomas, b. 22 Jun 1736 at Taunton;
    iii. Mary, b. 19 Nov 1738 at Taunton, d. unmarried 6 Dec 1829; and
    iv. Calvin, b. 27 Feb 1740 at Scituate, d. 8 Jan 1741.279

On 9 May 1745 when Thomas was 39, he second married Esther Chandler, daughter of Hon. John Chandler & Hannah Gardner. Born ca 1718. Esther died on 20 Jul 1790 in Scituate, MA.116 Buried in Scituate, MA GR12.

    i. Hannah, b. 24 Oct 1746;
    ii. Calvin, b. 28 Oct 1749, d. 4 Dec 1752;
    iii. Augustus, b. 28 Mar 1752, d. 2 Feb 1827 unmarried;
    iv. Chandler, b. 28 Dec 1754, d. 25 Dec 1832 unmarried; and
    v. Rufus, b. 24 Jan 1759, d. 8 Jun 1834 unmarried.279
